Taunton Indoor Doubles League

Keep playing whatever the weather – open to all

We arrange competitive indoor doubles from mid-September to the end of March. This is open to anyone, regardless of whether you are a member of Taunton Tennis Club. If you are interested in playing or would like more information, please send us an email. We hope it will let you:

Play competitive tennis throughout the winter, whatever the weather
Get some practice in for the summer season
Test out or solidify partnerships for the summer

Where and when

Blackbrook Pavilion, from mid-September until the end of March
Mondays and Fridays from 8 to 10 pm

How it works

We ask you a week in advance by email and Whatsapp if you are available. If you have a partner you play with regularly, that’s great. If not, or if your partner can’t make it on any given week and you can't find a replacement, we'll try to pair you up with someone suitable. We produce a league table showing how many sets each pair has played and won and what percentage of their sets they have won.

Who plays

It's open to all players within a reasonable radius of Taunton. We want to give people competitive tennis, so we try to ensure that the standard at the sessions is fairly uniform. If we can’t fit you in because your standard of play is higher or lower than that of other players at a session, we’ll let you know. Once we have enough demand from players of different levels, we can think about additional sessions.

Monday and Friday nights: Most of the men on these nights play in Division 1 or 2 of the Yeovil and District League or the West Somerset League or Division 2 or 3 of the North Somerset League. We also have a few women who play in Division 1 of the West Somerset League or Division 1 or 2 of the North Somerset League.

Cost

We have negotiated a deal with the tennis centre and can offer the following prices:

Taunton Tennis Club indoor members and juniors: £6
Taunton Tennis Club outdoor members: £8
Non-members: £10

You pay on the day to the organiser. Balls are included in the price.
